WHY IT RATES: This is the third consecutive year that Delta has been listed among the Honor Roll by Companies that Care, a list that recognizes companies and organizations for acting in socially responsible ways.-Mia Taylor, TravelPulse Senior Writer.

Delta has been named to the 2018 Honor Roll by Companies That Care, making this the third consecutive year the airline has received the recognition. The U.S. companies and organizations listed range from small to large, public, private, non-profit and for-profit but all share the similar quality of acting in socially responsible ways for their employees and communities.

Delta qualified for the award by excellently demonstrating the 10 Characteristics set forth by the non-profit, which include: considering the human toll when making business decisions, cultivating the full potential of employees, supporting the pursuit of work/life balance, sustaining an inclusive work environment founded on dignity and respect for all employees, and volunteering in the community. Two key components of the selection process are a written application and employee survey results.

"We're thrilled to receive this honor for a third straight year, and are grateful for the ongoing validation of our unique workplace culture," said Joanne Smith, Delta's executive vice president and chief human resources officer. "Caring for others has been a big part of the Delta difference ever since the company was founded. In addition, Delta believes strongly in giving back to the communities where we live, work and serve. As a company, we are committed to giving back 1% of net income each year to the community."

"Since the Honor Roll's inception 16 years ago, many things have changed in our country and our business climate, but what hasn't changed is that the companies on this list, like those before them, exemplify the best of the best," said Marci Koblenz, co-founder and president of Center for Companies That Care. "We hear about companies seeking employee engagement. Well, we believe employee engagement begins with engaged employers, such as Delta. All have remained connected with and committed to their employees and communities and take into account the human toll when making business decisions."

Center for Companies That Care is a national, 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to channeling the power of businesses to dramatically increase the college graduation rate of underserved students.
