A Scottish vacationer only had to shell out $60 for a VIP experience aboard her flight from Glasgow to the Greek island of Crete.
According to the Daily Mail, 57-year-old Karon Grieve was the only passenger on the four-hour Jet2 flight, leaving her with 189 seats and an entire flight crew to herself.
The author described the once-in-a-lifetime experience upon landing in Crete.
"There were another two people who were booked on the flight but they didn't end up showing up. So as soon as I got on the flight, it was just me, the cabin crew and the pilot," Grieve told the Daily Mail. "They moved me to seat number one so I had all the leg room and everything, it was fantastic."
She said the flight's pilot addressed her by name over the intercom and gave her a personalized narration of the flight, pointing out what countries they were flying over and what to look for.
"At one point there was this incredible lightning storm so the pilot had us all watching that which was just fantastic."
Grieve also said she was granted unprecedented freedom on the flight.
"The crew were wandering around and said just to call if I needed anything. I even got a free meal which was great," added Grieve. "They said I could run up and down the plane if I wanted, I had all the space to myself. It was so peaceful and I got a lot of work done."
At the end of the flight, Grieve received her luggage straight from the cargo hold.
"We're delighted Karon got to experience our VIP customer service in style," a Jet2 spokeswoman said in a statement. "It is not unusual for the final outbound flight of the season to have fewer bookings than normal. We hope Karon has a fantastic time in Crete."
Grieve, who is visiting Crete for one month to work on a romantic crime novel, told the Daily Mail that the return flight to Glasgow was completed booked up.
The glowing review of the deserted flight is a welcome headline for Jet2, which has taken some hits over the past two months. Last week, a family called out the airline after they were forced to sit next to a pool of vomit during a four-hour flight. In September, a man spotted a can of beer sitting next to a pilot in the cockpit of a Jet2 flight from Spain to England.
