LAX Allowing Weed Inside Facility, TSA Still Says No

A new policy at Los Angeles International Airport permits people entering the facility to carry small amounts of marijuana.
According to The Associated Press, airport police in Los Angeles will no longer concern themselves with less than an ounce of weed, but they warn that Transportation Security Administration officers will still have a major problem if they find the controlled substance.
Federal law says possession of any amount of marijuana is still a crime and carrying weed onto planes is not allowed. If drugs are found, TSA agents will call on airport police to deal with the situation.
“TSA's focus is on terrorism and security threats to the aircraft and its passengers,” TSA spokeswoman Lorie Dankers told The AP. “Whether or not the passenger is allowed to travel with marijuana is up to law enforcement's discretion.”
While passengers at LAX will be allowed inside the building with marijuana, police also warn that other facilities don’t have the same rules. It’s still illegal to have weed at Denver International Airport and most other airports in the United States.
National Association of Airline Passengers executive director Douglas Kidd said the best advice is to leave all of your drugs at home.
Or just don’t have drugs.
