Virgin Atlantic announced Wednesday it has launched three new ways to fly as part of the carrier’s multi-million-dollar investment in the economy class.
Starting in spring 2018, Virgin Atlantic will introduce the Economy Delight, Economy Classic and Economy Light tickets, which will allow travelers to choose the product that best suits their budget and needs.
Those booking a trip in Economy Delight will enjoy seats with 34 inches of legroom, advanced seat assignment, and priority check-in and boarding. As for the Economy Classic passengers, travelers will feature free seat assignment to assure families can sit together.
The new Economy Light ticket will offer Virgin Atlantic’s lowest fare, which makes long-haul travel affordable and accessible for millennials and low-budget customers.
“When I started Virgin Atlantic I wanted to challenge the status quo and make flying amazing – regardless of which cabin you’re in - and that’s still true today,” Virgin Atlantic founder Richard Branson said in a statement. “We’re unveiling a multimillion pound investment to make Virgin Atlantic’s Economy cabin the best of any U.K. airline and setting the bar for others to follow.”
The three new economy class ticket tiers are part of a larger investment from the airline in the entire economy cabin. Not only is Virgin Atlantic adding more Economy Delight seats to provide more legroom, but the carrier is also focusing on serving up three-course meals and complimentary drinks and snacks.
In addition, the airline is introducing automated bag drop at London airports, adding personal USB charging ports to every seat, providing access to high-speed Wi-Fi and revealing the new Virgin scent that will be available across check-in, the gate and upon boarding the aircraft.
