Amtrak launched a new sale Wednesday for travelers hitting the rail with a family companion or significant other. Officials have dubbed it the "Roomette for Two for the Price of One" sale.
The new discount will allow one person in a group of two to travel for free when the full-price fare is purchased via Amtrak's official website through June 26. The deal is valid for travel between August 20 and February 15, 2019.
There is one blackout date on November 25.
Amtrak roomettes are perfect for pairs thanks to their comfortable seating during the day and their ability to transform into a comfortable bed with a drop-down bed directly above at night. Each sleeping accommodation is complete with bed linens, pillows, temperature controls, lights and bed-side storage nooks.
In addition, the Amtrak roomettes boast enough room for small carry-on bags and large suitcases in a storage area in the lower level, electrical outlets, double-decker windows, a fold-down table and a dedicated train attendant.
The price of a ticket includes meals, complimentary bottled water and access to ClubAcela and Amtrak Metropolitan Lounges at select stations.
The Roomette for Two for the Price of One sale will be available on every Amtrak train that has sleeping accommodations across its national network, including the Auto Train, California Zephyr, City of New Orleans, Empire Builder, Sunset Limited and more.
