Amtrak is living up to its moniker of America's Railroad in 2015.
This week, the rail service operator announced that it will unveil "Amtrak Train Days" this spring in an effort to celebrate why trains matter and reasons people ride within multiple communities.
In a press release, Amtrak revealed that it plans to build on the recent success of "National Train Day" by extending its community program beyond one day, spreading out events over the spring, summer and fall of 2015.
National Train Day was created by Amtrack back in 2008 as a way to spread information to the American public. Since then, more than 300 communities across the country have paused to celebrate the underrated form transportation.
Amtrak Train Days will begin on May 9, 2015 at Chicago Union Station, and continue across the country during the summer and fall.
The educational celebration will travel to 20 locations in the U.S. from May through October.
"Amtrak Train Days will demonstrate why 'Trains Matter' by sharing with the local communities we serve the 'reasons to ride' the train. ATD will focus on reaching current and new audiences across America to reinforce the importance, benefits and value of passenger train travel," stated the company's press release.
The associated celebrations will feature a plethora of outreach tools, including a tour of the Amtrak Exhibit Train in select markets.
In addition, they will include interactive displays of the Amtrak experience at community organization-sponsored events, guest speakers, media and event promotions and an Amtrak Train Days toolkit to help support activities in local communities.
Amtrak Train Days is still in the planning stages until March 30, according to the official website. However, Amtrak encourages communities looking to host events to reach out before plans are finalized this coming spring.
