Ultra-luxury line Seabourn is a recent Travvy Award winner in the category of Best Cruise Line for Expedition/Adventure. And, it’s living up to that distinction with its unique adventures Alaska. Expanded programming, enhanced excursions and even limited-time savings make Alaska by Seabourn especially attractive in 2019.
Leading the headlines is the world-class expedition team taking shape for the “Ventures by Seabourn” program. It’s all part of the extensive schedule of 11-, 12- and 14-day ultimate Alaska itineraries onboard Seabourn Sojourn from June to October 2019.
The Ventures by Seabourn guides will offer kayak, Zodiac, catamaran and hiking tours, to name a few options. The experienced, hand-selected expedition team includes renowned wilderness experts, scientists and historians. During the season they will also partner with several local tour operators to enhance hiking excursions to add local insights.
"As every year, we are excited to share our experienced and qualified expedition team for the upcoming 2019 season in Alaska & British Columbia. The strength of the group lies in the combination of academic passion, old-school experience, and local knowledge that they bring to the cruise schedule," said Robin West, vice president of Expedition Operations for Seabourn.
"This season's expedition team will not only join the guests on Ventures outings but will add to the onboard experience of Seabourn Sojourn with complimentary lectures on their fields of expertise including marine biology, geology, ornithology and history. They'll further be available at every turn to point out wildlife, join guests for dinner, and answer questions around the ship about the wild and pristine wonders that draw them – and our guests – back year after year."
On board the ship, Expedition team members will also take part in the Seabourn Conversations program. During each cruise, they’ll be on hand for complimentary formal presentations on a variety of topics and in more casual conversations. Also, the team will chronicle their adventures with stories and photos via Seabourn's Ventures Tracker.
Seabourn Sojourn's 2019 season in Alaska & British Columbia includes rarely-visited destinations in the Inside Passage and British Columbia, including destinations such as Alert Bay and Klemtu. Ventures by Seabourn excursions are available in select destinations for an added charge.
Seabourn is also introducing a new land package to accompany its Alaska sailings.
The UNESCO Banff National Park & The Rocky Mountaineer package explores the Canadian Rockies. The seven-day journey includes the UNESCO World Heritage site of Banff National Park and stunning Lake Louise. Guests will also spend two days on the iconic glass-domed rail coaches of The Rocky Mountaineer.
“This new Seabourn Journey is a perfect example of how Seabourn heightens cruising with land-based exploration of the stunning scenery and culture of the most beautiful places on the planet, with the rail cars being a perfect complement to the overall luxury travel experience,” said Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn. “For anyone planning a trip to Alaska and British Columbia in 2019, this will be a relaxing, eye-opening adventure in a stunning region that guests will not want to miss.”
In addition to the new UNESCO Banff National Park & Rocky Mountaineer package, Seabourn offers another option for in-depth Alaska exploration. The five-day Denali Experience is available before or after select Seabourn Alaska voyages. The package takes guests to the wilderness-laden Denali National Park, one of the most in-demand destinations in the state. The Denali Experience also includes a thrill-inducing flightseeing ride over the Great Gorge of the Ruth Glacier.
To make Seabourn’s Alaska sailings even more attractive, guests can take advantage of the Signature Savings Event. Bookings made by February 19 may be entitled to savings that include a two or three veranda suite upgrades; 300 minute Internet package per person, up to $500 air credit per person; up to $500 shipboard credit per suite; up to 15 percent savings on combination cruises and 50 percent reduced deposits.
