Basketball great Magic Johnson is helping to bring a new cruise ship terminal to Los Angeles.
JLC Infrastructure, one of Johnson’s companies, is partnering with Carrix, Inc. to develop and operate the new Outer Harbor cruise terminal at the Port of Los Angeles.
The venue will be able to accommodate the newest and most environmentally friendly cruise ships, and will offer open spaces, recreational facilities and enhanced access to the L.A. Waterfront.
The port’s World Cruise Terminal is also being redeveloped.
According to the port, each cruise ship call generates approximately $1.3 million in local economic activity. In 2025, the port notched 241 cruise calls and a record 1.6 million passengers.
“This project will also be a huge win for our Port communities, who will greatly benefit from the economic activity generated by such significant public and private investment in our LA Waterfront,” Gene Seroka, executive director of the Port of Los Angeles, said in a statement.
