Azamara Cruises plans to renovate Azamara Journey in November 2028 as part of Azamara Forward, its fleetwide upgrade program.
The ship is scheduled to enter a two-week dry dock from November 16-30, 2028, for upgrades to its restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, spa, staterooms and public spaces.
Planned changes include a redesigned Discoveries Restaurant, a dedicated Chef’s Table dining experience, a new Atlas Bar offering and a transformed Cabaret Lounge. The ship’s Sanctum Spa will also receive a complete refresh, while staterooms and suites will undergo updates.
The renovations are intended to refresh the onboard experience while preserving the intimate atmosphere of the line’s smaller ships, according to Azamara. The Penthouse Deck, however, will remain exclusive to Azamara Quest and will not be added to Azamara Journey.
“We’re continually looking for ways to elevate the Azamara experience while staying true to what our guests love most about sailing with us,” says Dondra Ritzenthaler, chief executive officer of Azamara Cruises.
Azamara Forward began with planned upgrades to Azamara Quest, which is scheduled to emerge from dry dock in November 2026. Its first post-renovation sailing is set to depart December 18, 2026. Azamara Onward is scheduled to receive enhancements in 2027, ahead of Azamara Journey’s renovation the following year.
Azamara Journey is scheduled to debut its refreshed spaces on November 30, 2028, departing Athens, Greece, on a 12-night itinerary to Greece and Egypt before returning to Athens. Additional details about the sailing and booking availability will be announced in the coming weeks as the cruise line opens its upcoming deployment for sale.
