Treehouses are officially no longer just for kids.

From the countless treehouse rentals listed on Airbnb these days to hotels offering special treehouse rooms, it seems that spending some time viewing the world from a tree has become the rage in the travel industry.

Joining the trend, Princess Cruises has just announced that they too have a treehouse experience to offer travelers.

No, they're not building treehouses on ships (as interesting as that might be). Rather, the cruise company recently unveiled a new 500-square-foot wilderness treehouse at Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge in Alaska.

The new offering was unveiled on Animal Planet's hit show Treehouse Masters and is being offered to Princess Cruises guests as part of a partnership with Discovery Communications.

As one of the highest land-based, north-facing Denali viewing areas, the treehouse will give cruisers a truly unique view of North America's highest peak. Guests will be able to access the property via a short hike.

The structure is powered by solar panels and was designed and constructed in Alaska by Pete Nelson, star of Treehouse Masters.

"The treehouse here at Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge was our first-ever build in Alaska," said Nelson in a statement. "We took the opportunity to connect the treehouse with this beautiful frontier by utilizing materials from areas around the state-reclaimed wood from Ketchikan, wooden benches from Palmer-all of these elements will help to connect visitors to Alaska in a unique way."

Programming associated with the treehouse will be announced prior to the summer of 2018, according to the cruise line, which held a ribbon cutting for the structure earlier this week.

"We invite guests visiting Alaska from around the world to join us at our Lodge and the new treehouse," Lisa Syme, Princess Cruises vice president, said in a statement. "Alaska provides one of the most unique travel experiences and our new wilderness treehouse encourages our travelers to explore and experience it with child-like curiosity and wonder."
