Royal Caribbean Crew Member Missing After Going Overboard on Christmas

Coast Guard search and rescue teams are looking for a crew member who went overboard from a Royal Caribbean International ship on Christmas day.

According to the Miami Herald, 20-year-old Arron Luke Hough was reported missing from the Harmony of the Seas Tuesday after he failed to show up for a performance of the musical Grease, which he was part of the cast.

The Coast Guard dispatched an HC-130 Hercules airplane and a Cutter Resolute search vessel to the area around 250 nautical miles from the port of Aguadilla in hopes of finding Hough. The United Kingdom native was last seen on security cameras Tuesday morning on Deck 5.

Royal Caribbean officials said the security footage showed Hough entering an area on Deck 5 at around 4 a.m. local time and was not seen again. The cruise line has launched a full investigation into the incident.

"Local authorities were notified and a ship-wide search for the crew member was conducted," a Royal Caribbean spokesperson said in a statement. "Our care team is providing support to the family and friends of our colleague."

While Hough was celebrated by his crew members and family members on social media, it was discovered that he had sent several cryptic tweets about the rough sailing conditions days prior to his disappearance.
