Seabourn has now installed SpaceX’s Starlink internet across its entire fleet, joining the many other cruise lines that have upgraded their ships’ connectivity in recent months.
All of the luxury cruise line’s vessels are now able to connect to Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellite technology, which means guests can enjoy faster, more reliable Wi-Fi while sailing.
Earlier this year, Seabourn installed Starlink infrastructure on its two expedition ships, Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit. And, after receiving lots of positive feedback from guests who sailed on those vessels, the line also decided to equip its four ocean ships, Seabourn Sojourn, Seabourn Quest, Seabourn Encore and Seabourn Ovation.
“Our guests can now choose to connect or disconnect as they wish during their extraordinary journeys with Seabourn,” says Natalya Leahy, Seabourn’s president. “Whether exploring the polar regions, cruising the Mediterranean or navigating across the oceans, our guests can now enjoy an even more dependable connection, enabling them to effortlessly share those cherished ‘Seabourn Moments’ and experiences with their loved ones when they are sailing with us.”
In addition to its enhanced Wi-Fi, Seabourn is also giving guests another reason to book: its “The Sail of the Year” promotion. Guests who book select ocean and expedition trips before Feb. 29 can save up to 25 percent on cruise fares and enjoy a reduced 15 percent deposit. Guests who book by Jan. 31 can also get up to $1,000 in onboard credits per cabin.
Starlink has become a popular choice for internet aboard cruise ships. Royal Caribbean and HX (formerly Hurtigruten Expeditions) kicked things off in the fall of 2022, and many other cruise lines followed suit — including Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ various lines, Holland America Line, Cunard and Aurora Expeditions, to name a few.
