The Cancun Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders (DCC) unveiled their 2015 calendar on Oct. 25 at the Glass Cactus Nightclub at the Gaylord Texan Hotel in Dallas.
The Dallas Cowboys, one of the most popular and successful sport franchises in the U.S., partnered with Cancun this past May to host the DCC's 2015 calendar shoot in the destination. The strategic collaboration showcased the destination's allure and celebrated the cheerleaders. Texas is a leading market for Cancun, and Texans account for approximately 15 percent of all United States tourists in the destination, with more than 275,000 Texans reportedly visiting in 2013 alone.
Along with the cheerleaders, Jesus Almaguer, CEO of the Cancun CVB; Kelli Finglass, director of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders; and Eric Sudol, senior director of corporate partnerships, sales and service for the DCC; attended the calendar release event.
The release celebration included live music by the David Whiteman Band, as well as calendar signings with the cheerleaders. At the conclusion of the event, the Cancun CVB conducted a raffle, which gifted a lucky winner with roundtrip airfare and hotel accommodations for two in Cancun. Additionally, the CVB announced that the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders will renew their partnership with the destination and revisit Cancun for the 2016 edition of the popular calendar in an effort to showcase many of Cancun's treasures including Isla Holbox, Puerto Morelos, Isla Mujeres and Isla Contoy.
The Cancun CVB and the DCC also hosted several local tour operators and media to join them for the Dallas Cowboys v. Washington Redskins game on Oct. 27. Attendees included Jesus Almaguer, executives from Iberostar Hotels, The Mark Travel Corporation, MLT Vacations, and several local journalists.
For 10 days, 30 Cowboys Cheerleaders visited various locations in Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Blanca to promote both the team and cheerleaders, while also highlighting the natural splendor of Cancun, which was named the top 2014 summer destination by both Orbitz and Fly.com. The DCC also participated in a fashion show at their host hotel, Iberostar Cancun, visited Garrafon Park in Isla Mujeres and enjoyed a ride through the Caribbean Sea in a luxurious catamaran.
