Who needs Times Square?

A lot of people are looking forward to saying goodbye to 2016 and, if you are looking to send the old year off in style, L.A. really is the place. Several events will take place around the city for those in the mood to celebrate.

Grand Park New Year's Eve L.A.
One of the largest gatherings will take place in Downtown Los Angeles at Grand Park New Year's Eve L.A. While many NYE events cost a pretty penny, this gathering is free of charge. The family-friendly celebration takes place on the three blocks of green space from the Music Center to City Hall and will feature a 22-story photo-booth projections on City Hall, a DJ, live bands and a countdown.

Countdown
For electronic music fans, Countdown at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino is where you want to be to ring in NYE with around 30,000 of your closest friends. The event is actually two nights and features sounds from A-Trak, Baauer, Steve Aoki, Alesso, Zedd, Diplo and more. You will need tickets to this event and they run between $90 and $125.

New Year's Eve in Downtown Long Beach
Head to Long Beach and take in the revelry at a three-block long music fest with three stages, bands, DJs and more.

This year's performances include Citizen Cope, a DJ set from Australian electronic darlings Cut Copy that will pay tribute to the late Sharon Jones, St. Paul and the Broken Bones.

Event-goers can take part in free rides on the metro Blue Line when attending the event. Tickets are required and run between $40 and $50.

New Year's Eve On the Queen Mary
Ring in the New Year on the famous Queen Mary where you can explore the ship's decks and salons through a number of themed parties, including film themes such as The Godfather, Urban Cowboy, Mambo Kings, Avatar and more. The event culminates with fireworks at midnight.

Tickets are $99 and VIP tickets go for $199.

Annual Cleopatra's 2017 New Year's Eve Ball
At the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, ring in the New Year at a swanky theme ball. The event features two VIP areas, 10 djs and a five-hour premium open bar in the heart of Hollywood. Tickets are required and run between $77 to more than $1,000 for tables.

New Year's Ball at the Edison
In Downtown L.A., ring in 2017 at the Edison with a classic cabaret ball. The event features performances by Parlor Social, aerialists, stilt walkers, dancers and more. General admission tickets are $100 and table reservations are available.

Noon Year's Eve at Kidspace Children's Museum
For those with youngsters, visit the Kidspace Children's Museum in Pasadena to celebrate Noon Year's Eve. The party mimics adult New Year's celebrations but the ball drops at noon rather than midnight, a much more respectable hour. Kids make party hats, get noise makers and sip sparkling cider for a memorable "noon year."
