Among the many scenic trails that wind through vibrant forests is one called the Emerald Outback, the gem of region’s hiking and mountain biking scene, which is not to be missed. On weekends, biking enthusiasts can bring their mountain bikes up to the summit by way of the Beech Mountain Resort’s chair lifts to soak in the famed 50-mile vista of scenic overlook. The season also bring the annual Autumn at Oz festival on three weekends in September, which immerses attendees in the magical Land of Oz. You can meet favorite characters from the story, browse unique arts and crafts, savor delicious food and beverages, and enjoy live performances. But, be sure and purchase tickets in advance, as the event is overwhelmingly popular around here.

Blairsville, Georgia

This charming mountain town, also nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, offers some of the most stunning fall foliage and outdoor adventures in the North Georgia region. During the autumn months, the surrounding Chattahoochee National Forest bursts into vibrant hues of red, orange and gold, making it an ideal destination for leaf-peeping, hiking and scenic drives. And, during spooky season, the town’s historic cemeteries, Port Royal State Historic Park and Collinsville offer wildly popular ghost and lantern tours.
