The winter is heating up in Hawaii.
The Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel is undergoing a $46 million conversion project to become The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort, scheduled to open its doors in March 2018.
The upgraded luxury resort is still be owned by Prince Resorts Hawaii, but it will feature a plethora of new features, including an adults-only pool, a sophisticated designed lobby experience, various wellness-related guest activities and more.
When it finally opens next year, The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort will boast 232 guestrooms and 17 suites, all redesigned with Westin brand signature furnishings and fixtures.
For travelers looking to eat like royalty during their next vacation, the Hawaiian resort will feature four new dining options, including a Mediterranean inspired restaurant dubbed Meridia, a casual restaurant called Naupaka Beach Grill, an open-air breakfast venue named 'Ikena Landing and the Piko Coffee+Bar.
"Well-being is a big part of the local culture here, so we couldn't be more excited to bring the Westin brand to the island of Hawaii," Prince Resorts Hawaii president Donn Takahashi said in a statement. "With longtime Westin-veteran Craig Anderson at the helm, we're confident that his leadership will allow us to leverage the brand's successful lifestyle positioning and elevate the guest experience."
The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort shares 1,839 acres of oceanfront property with the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel along the bluffs above the idyllic Hapuna Beach. Both properties aim to immerse guests in the contemporary Hawaiian style.
As for the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, it boasts two championship golf courses, luxury residences, townhomes and villas.
"Westin's history of delivering a best-in-class product is perfectly suited for Hapuna and will reposition the hotel as a top competitor on the Kohala Coast," Mauna Kea Resort vice president Craig Anderson said in a statement.
