How To Plan Your South Beach Wine & Food Festival Trip Like a Pro
Destination & Tourism Lauren Yochum December 01, 2016

There are food festivals filled with average wine and mediocre bites, and then there are those stellar events that demand the attention of nationally acclaimed chefs and sommeliers. The South Beach Wine & Food Festival falls into the latter category and features an unrivaled lineup of wine tastings and celebrity chefs. Back for its 16th year, SOBEWFF will take place Feb. 22–26, 2017 with a lineup of more than 90 events.
With more events than time, it can be difficult to navigate and plan a weekend in South Beach. Here are a few tips to make the most of your weekend while wining and dining in Miami.
Book Now: With its growing popularity, most of the SOBEWFF events sell out each year. Tickets are on sale now, so why not make a weekend of it and gift an event or two this holiday season to your favorite foodie. Don’t miss the Heineken Light Burger Bash or the Goya Foods Grand Tasting Village – two epic tasting events that are worth every penny.
Skipping the Lines: While the grand tasting events truly are grand, they can be crowded and a tad overwhelming. So make sure you book a more intimate experience like a Wine Spectator Wine Seminar which features some of the world’s best winemakers and industry experts. Equal parts entertaining and educational, these seated wine sessions are fun for novices and experts alike.
Staying the Night: Luxury hotels in the heart of South Beach can have skyrocketing prices the weekend of the festival. If you’re still looking for a luxe experience without the outrageous price tag, try finding a hotel in Fort Lauderdale, or take your chances with an Airbnb home on the water.
Dine Out: Miami is bursting with world-renowned chefs and cuisine. Make sure you build some dining reservations into your festival plans like Quality Meats and Yardbird. Just book early since reservations during SOBEWFF are more coveted than a five-star hotel.
Mix it Up: Between culinary events, wine tastings and late-night parties there are endless ways to experience the festival. So start your morning with an array of eight rosés, followed by tastings and celebrity appearance at the Grand Tasting Village and then end your boozy food-filled day with Asian fare and Andrew Zimmerman.
Join the industry’s finest winemakers and chefs while strolling through the white sands of Miami. With an array of dinners, tastings, seminars and parties, you’ll find plenty of ways to satisfy your inner foodie.
