The Los Cabos Tourism Board is bringing in an executive with formidable experience as its new commercial director-chief commercial officer, naming Luis Palacios Larrañaga to the position. He replaces Eduardo Segura.
Palacios, who grew up in Los Cabos and La Paz, is wholly familiar with the region, having also served as the executive director of the Baja California Sur State Tourism Board since 2012. In that position, he oversaw promotion of Los Cabos, as well as La Paz, Loreto and such UNESCO World areas as gray whale sanctuaries and cave painting sites.
Before assuming the position of executive director of the Baja California Sur State Tourism Board, Palacios served as marketing sub-secretary of tourism for the Secretariat of Tourism of Baja California Sur.
Palacios joins the Los Cabos Tourism Board as the destination enters a new chapter, with the latest reports indicating the lion's share of hotels damaged by Hurricane Odile have reopened. In another clear indication of the destination's recovery, officials said the Los Cabos International Airport experienced its second-best January on record in terms of traffic.
For his part, Palacios is passionate about not only Los Cabos but the entire state of Baja Peninsula Sur. "I still believe the best of Baja Sur is yet to be discovered," he said.
