The New Rooftop Bar Worth Traveling For
Destination & Tourism Lauren Bowman September 25, 2018

Everyone knows Orlando is known for its theme parks—after all, it is the Theme Park Capital of the World. But with so much chaos and so much walking, sometimes you just want a place to go to relax.
Bar 17 Bistro at Universal Studios’ Aventura Hotel is the answer. Rooftop bars are on the rise—literally—in the US, and Bar 17 Bistro is sure to be a new hot spot in Orlando.
Aventura Hotel opened in mid-August of this year, but with their excellent service, you would think they have been open for months. Positioned in the middle of Universal’s property, it’s just a short walk from any of the three theme parks or other hotels in the area.
Bar 17 Bistro is the rooftop bar located on the 17th floor. Rising high above its neighbors, and with large Plexiglas windows walls surrounding the rooftop, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the city. On one side you’ll get a great view of Universal’s Volcano Bay, while the other side gives you an aerial look into Islands of Adventure.

The volcano itself at Universal's Volcano Bay is a prominent site in the middle of the water theme park, with a constant flow of water cascading down. The volcano will occasionally ‘erupt,’ shooting water from the top. With Islands of Adventure, you're able to enjoy views of Hogwarts and Universal Studios.
Be sure to take in the views with one of their unique cocktails, or peruse the wine and beer list. There are even fun mocktails for those who don’t prefer alcohol.
The food at Bar 17 Bistro really stands out. Everything is fresh to order and served as shareable plates. With multiple types of bao buns to choose from—the duck confit and firecracker shrimp being a personal favorite—a superb meat and cheese board and a large selection of other tapas to choose from, there's something here for everyone to enjoy.
Although most visit the rooftop for a drink and the view, the menu easily allows you to make a meal out of the bistro items. It was clear that the table next to us wanted to try some menu items as soon as they saw these delectable dishes being delivered.
Bar 17 Bistro is a great place to watch the sunset and relax after walking around the parks all day. You can even catch a few firework shows in the distance after the sun sets, or just come by and enjoy happy hour before making your way to City Walk.
Since there’s an express elevator in the lobby that takes you straight to the top, getting to the rooftop is a breeze. Outside guests are more than welcome to come inside and enjoy the restaurant, too.
Bar 17 Bistro provides a welcome break from all the action—a place to unwind, enjoy the views and taste some delicious food.
