Trivago.com has come out with its annual list of the 50 Best Value Towns & Cities, highlighting destinations that charge a relatively cheap rate for the guest experience they provide.
This year, Branson, Missouri was dubbed the No. 1 Best Value City in the United States, while Hillsboro, Texas was named the top Best Value Small Town.
Branson, a family-friendly city nestled in the Ozark Mountains, was pleased with the recognition.
"Branson has always been a great value vacation destination," said Jeff Seifried, president and CEO of the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and CVB. "Having the number one spot as the Best Value City in America is probably one of our greatest accolades. Visitors will know that their money goes further in Branson."
Branson features three lakes, a variety of live performance theaters, championship golf courses, an award-winning theme park, family attractions and museums, a historic downtown area, a range of dining options and-of course-a collection of bargain hotels, motels, resorts, RV parks, campgrounds and meeting and event facilities.
Branson is a one-of-a-kind family vacation destination nestled in the lakeside beauty of the Ozark Mountains with dozens of live performance theaters, three pristine lakes, championship golf courses, an international award-winning theme park, family attractions and museums, a Historic Downtown district, shopping galore, a full range of dining options, and a host of hotels, motels, resorts, RV parks, campgrounds and meeting and convention facilities.
Other Best Value Cities included (in order): Macon, Georgia; Montgomery, Alabama; Wichita, Kansas; and Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Other Best Value Small Towns included (in order): Cleburne, Texas; McAlester, Oklahoma; Guymon, Oklahoma; and Searcy, Arkansas.
The trivago Best Value Index uses an algorithm that combines the trivago Hotel Price Index (HPI) with trivago's Reputation Ranking to grade top-value hotels.
The trivago Hotel Price Index shows the average overnight accommodation prices for a standard double room on trivago. Scaling up to 100, the Best Value Index lists the combined score on consumer rating and average hotel price. Branson scored a 90.5.
