SeaWorld officials in Orlando, Florida, are now treating a third manatee that was rescued from brisk waters near Jacksonville, according to a recent press release from the park.
The 425-pound male, which was brought to SeaWorld by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, joins two other manatees that were rescued earlier this month.
Here you can watch the SeaWorld officials in action:
SeaWorld's Animal Rescue Team has performed various health checks on each of the animals, including x-rays, blood tests and antibiotics. As expected, all three have shown symptoms of "cold stress," which can be brought on by waters colder than 68 degrees.
The manatee rescued last week was given fluids and antibiotics to treat possible infection, but will receive around-the-clock attention and support while it recovers.
The SeaWorld Orlando team has rescued nearly a dozen manatees this year, returning nine of them to the wild following treatment.
