The state fair is all about indulging the senses, primarily your taste.
Whether you live for a classic corndog or covet an out-of-this-world deep-fried concoction, state fair foods rarely ever disappoint.
There's something for everyone and always something different to look forward to.
The state fair is essentially the testing ground for over the top snacks.
Here are just some of the craziest foods Americans can chow down on.
Crabby Patty
Fans of SpongeBob SquarePants are sure to love the Maryland State Fair's signature snack this year.
The Crabby Patty combines a no-filler crab cake and a fried soft-shell crab on a roll with lettuce and tomato.
The Heart Attack
The Heart Attack sounds scary and for good reason. This Great New York State Fair snack stuffs a pair of hot dogs with chili and cheese, wraps them in bacon and then deep fries them.
Afterward, it gets topped with cheddar cheese sauce, chocolate sauce, jalapenos and a Hershey's chocolate bar.
Fried Beer
You're going to need something to wash down all of those deep-fried balls of butter so why not deep-fried beer? The State Fair of Texas' fried beer looks like ravioli at first glance but surprises you with a mouthful of beer.
For dessert, how about a cotton candy taco?
Cookie Dough Spaghetti
This Iowa State Fair food resembles a plate of spaghetti but is actually a delicious dessert.
The noodles are made of cookie dough and drizzled with a red strawberry sauce. It's topped off with a chocolate hazelnut treat disguised as a meatball.
Unicorn Nitro Popcorn
The Arizona State Fair is bringing together two beloved classic state fair foods in popcorn and cotton candy.
But that's just the beginning as the rainbow colored popcorn is frozen in liquid nitrogen. The final product is topped with fruity cereal for good measure.
Idaho Ice Cream Potato
Similar to cookie dough "spaghetti," the Idaho ice cream potato doesn't actually use a potato. What appears to be a baked potato is actually vanilla ice cream rolled in cocoa powder.
It's filled with whip cream (not sour cream) and then topped with chocolate sauce, nuts and crushed Oreo cookies.
