It’s
an unsettling time, to be sure.
War
is raging in Ukraine and Gaza, and there is always the threat of terrorism
around the globe. And the 2024 Super Bowl in Las Vegas is one of the
highest-profile events in the United States.
To
that end, the Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced a series of restrictions for the big game,
including parking for vehicles at Harry Reid International Airport in Las
Vegas.
Even
though Allegiant Stadium is a domed facility, the FAA is taking no chances for Super Bowl LVIII as the city prepares to host for the
first time in what is generally regarded as the entertainment capital of the
world.
And it’s not just Harry
Reid International, the primary air travel gateway to Las Vegas. Restrictions
will also be imposed at North Las Vegas Airport, Henderson Executive Airport
and Boulder City Airport leading to the big game on February 11.
Regularly scheduled commercial airline
flights will have no problem, but general aviation pilots face severe
restrictions.
That includes no drones.
Some of the restrictions will start as
early as Wednesday, February 7. All four airports mentioned above will have a
reservation system for vehicle parking from February 7 to 13.
The FAA will also issue a Notice to Air Missions later
this month about procedures for the game and specific departure and arrival
routes.
A special six-hour flight restriction on the day of the
game will also be in place.
