On March 22, Disneyland’s Fantasyland Theatre
became the official home of “Bluey’s Best Day Ever!”, a high-energy,
music-filled show inspired by the hit Australian animated television show
“Bluey.”
Across three seasons and more than 150
episodes, viewers have fallen in love with Bluey, her little sister, Bingo,
their parents, Bandit and Chilli, and many other enchantingly quirky
characters. Now, the Disney Experiences team has made it so fans can dance with
their favorite pups to the tune of a live five-piece band in a sprawling space
transformed into Bluey's school on the day of an epic Fun Fair.
“We drew inspiration from so many iconic
‘Bluey’ moments and themes, and we wanted to pack as many details as we could
into this experience,” said Jennifer Magill, executive producer for Disney Live
Entertainment. “By transforming Fantasyland Theatre into an immersive
space full of activities, we found ways to highlight memorable moments that all
ages and everyone in the family will enjoy.”
Here’s what to expect in and around the new
attraction.
Show Details to Know
Bluey and Bingo are, of course, the stars of
this stage production, but they are accompanied by an impressive troupe of
comedic performers, plus musicians who pipe out beloved tunes from the show.
Series characters like Unicorse, Chattermax and Muffin appear for dance numbers
and silly games, and a parade of inflatable characters — set atop the shoulders
of cast members — come to the floor to cruise through the crowd.
Notably, there are two distinct versions of
the show, which may inspire Disneyland guests to make repeat visits. During
both, infectious music and twirling light displays on the floor get young
viewers up and moving and smiling from ear to ear.
When the on-stage portion of the show ends,
cast members come down to the floor and interact with young viewers. One played
a form of freeze dance using a colorful xylophone during our visit, while
another had a themed puzzle that kids gathered around to do on the ground. Yet
another cast member led an oversized matching memory game.
New Themed Treats
Some people go to Disneyland for the classic
rides or for character meet-and-greet opportunities, and plenty of others
arrive most eager to sample the delicious eats available throughout the park —
and the debut of any new fare at the park is big news for foodies.
Of course, "Bluey's Best Day Ever!"
brings with it new savory and sweet snack items. The Troubadour Tavern, located
just outside Fantasyland Theatre, has a brand-new themed menu, and true fans of
the show are likely to giggle at all the (edible) nods to different episodes.
Among sweet treats is the brilliant green Magic "Asparagus" Pretzel
(a pretzel stick dipped in thick, vanilla-flavored white chocolate), an order
of Poffertjes! Poffertjes! (mini Dutch pancakes) and a Lime Ice Block drink
that comes topped with a refreshing watermelon ice pop. Each of these items
references memorable moments in the show, like when Bluey pretends her
asparagus spear is a magic wand, and her family plays along as she turns them
into animals.
For savory bites, guests can opt for the Pizza
Girls Baked Potato, which tastes just like a loaded slice of pizza, with
marinara and mozzarella layered beneath pepperoni, sausage, and bacon bits
(there's some Alfredo sauce and herbed Parmesan thrown in for good measure).
Mini hot dogs and another baked potato option are also for sale at Troubadour
Tavern. Grown-ups in need of caffeine might try the Mud Cake Cold Brew. It's
messy on top, with bits of fudge brownie, malted milk and sprinkles — it's
delicious, while also looking just like something Bluey and Bingo might toss
together for their parents in their backyard in a bout of pretend play.

Immersive Fun
The fun doesn't even stop when the show ends
or the snacks are gone. For more room to wiggle, guests can head to the fairy
garden built to the right of the stage, or the gnome village to the left. Both
are great spaces for photos and pretend play. And there's more just outside of
the venue.
Guests can take a class photo with Bluey’s class up by the theater’s entry, or with Bluey’s family car. There’s also a
Barky Boats area (named after an eponymous episode, of course) where kids can
roll toy sailboats down a track — and one race is never enough.
Bluey and Bingo often react to a surprise with
the question, “For real life?”
And thanks to Disney Experiences, so many of
their stories have been brought to life.
“With ‘Bluey’s Best Day Ever!’, we’ve
challenged ourselves as storytellers and artists to create something wholly
unique that our guests will remember for years to come,” said Susana Tubert,
creative director for Disney Live Entertainment. “For more than 70
years, bringing treasured tales to life has been at the heart of what we do at
Disneyland Resort, and with Bluey and her sister Bingo, we are transforming
their animated world — one that has brought families so close together — into a
real life, tangible experience that everyone can enjoy.”
