On Thursday, Legoland California General Manager Peter Ronchetti announced the plans for upgrades and additions to the theme park for the 2017 season.
Included in the upgrades and additions are new Lego Ninjago themed rooms at the Legoland Hotel, an expansion at the Legoland Water Park and a new addition to Lego Star Wars area of the facility, dubbed The Force Awakens Miniland Model Display.
The Star Wars Miniland Model Display will feature scenes that include Kylo Ren's capture of Poe at planet Jakku, Rey's rescue of BB-8, Poe and Finn's escape from the Star Destroyer Finalizer, the wreck of Finn and Poe's TIE Fighter and much more.
"Right now, at our secret Model Shop in Carlsbad, Master Model Designer Nik Ehm of our Merlin's Magic Making team is working on creating six scenes that represent the first 30 minutes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens," Ronchetti said in a statement. "There are two primary focal points - the more traditional character-driven scenes on the planet of Jakku, and an enormous Lego model of the Star Destroyer Finalizer. At 16-feet long, it will be the longest Lego Star Wars Miniland model ever created!"
The new Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens Miniland Model Display will open to the public in March 2017. Another attraction opening in 2017 will be Surfer's Bay, which was designed for children to compete against each other by riding on a mat and racing down one of facility's six water slides.
