'The Secret Life of Pets' is not only getting a sequel to hit theaters in June, but the popular kid's film will become its own theme park ride in 2020.
Universal Pictures is spinning off the movie into an attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood
The ride will be titled 'The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!' According to Deadline, it will feature live, dimensional and animated characters, along with what the park calls "hyper-realistic media" as guests board vehicles.
Guests assume the roles of stray puppies alongside characters from the film such as Max, Snowball, Gidget, Chloe and Duke. They then go on a journey to a pet adoption event, but not before overcoming a series of challenges with other animals in the hopes of finding their forever homes.
The ride will be located next to to the "Despicable Me Minion Mayhem" and "Super Silly Fun Land" attractions.
"We are thrilled to be able to bring another exciting Illumination movie-based ride to our guests," Karen Irwin, President and COO, Universal Studios Hollywood, said in a statement. "'The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!' will capture the essence of the popular film and invite our guests to live vicariously through some of their favorite characters as they embark on a one-of-a-kind experience only available at Universal Studios Hollywood."
The first 'Secret Lives of Pets' film grossed more than $875 million worldwide.
The sequel will feature legendary actor Harrison Ford in his first animated voice role.
