Universal Orlando Resort announced that Minion Land on
Illumination Avenue would open to the public on August 11.
Minion Land was created in partnership between Universal
Creative and Illumination, with the area bringing the popular film franchise to
life. Currently in preview for guests, the land at Universal Studios Florida
mixes Minion mischief with diabolical fun.
Universal Orlando’s new land expands upon the Despicable Me
Minion Mayhem attraction to include a collection of humorous adventures
inspired by Illumination’s beloved Minions.
Earlier this month, the theme park announced new details for
Illumination’s Villain-Con
Minion Blast blaster game. Located at the entrance to Minion Land, the
attraction blends immersive sets, interactive game-based technology, custom
animations and an original storyline to create a one-of-a-kind blaster
attraction where guests can put their villainous skills to the ultimate test.
Upon entering the attraction, guests will be transported to
Villain-Con, where the headlining event is a challenge to see who has what it
takes to become the newest member of the notorious supervillain group, the
Vicious 6, voiced by the original cast from the film, including Danny Trejo,
Lucy Lawless and Jean-Claude Van Damme.
In addition, Minion Land will boast a unique dining
experience that features themed food and drink offerings from Illumination’s
Minion Cafe, Pop-A-Nana, Freeze Ray Pops and Bake My Day.
The land will also feature the new Evil Stuff retail store
and the outdoor Illumination Theater façade, where visitors can meet and
interact with characters like the Minions, Gru, Margo, Edith and Agnes.
