As long as golf is played outdoors, animals will find a way to interrupt.
In Sweden, it turns out, golfers sometimes even have to contend with elk.
A video posted to Facebook by Tony Swahn last month captured the tense but equally amusing moment when Swedish golfer Christer Sjogren fled from an elk calf on a fairway at Karlstad Golf Club.
Fortunately, neither Sjogren nor the elk were injured as the animal eventually lost interest with the golfer and his friends.
The video has already been viewed more than 75,000 times.
"He followed me the whole time. So I thought I'd start running to see what would happen," Sjogren told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. "When I started running, I realized that wasn't a good decision."
While Sjogren was lucky he and his golf clubs came away unscathed, the best move might be to stay still next time.
