There is nothing more frustrating when you arrive at your destination airport than knowing that the trip from terminal to town is going to take a considerable amount of time. Especially if you have some sort of relaxation to do and liquor to drink. Leave it to the guys over at boardingarea.com to find us a way out of it, at least in one city in Indonesia.
Jakarta Fast Track is a service that can arrange for you to have a two-motorcycle police escort from the airport to your destination. You can also rent the police for journeys throughout the city during your stay.
The website claims that your journey will be cut in half and as an added benefit, "your status in eyes of local partners is raised." Take that, my Indonesian business partners! You had no idea who you were dealing with!
According to the boardingarea.com site, the owner, Eric has been trained by elite police to ride in convoy style and the police keep in constant contact with HQ to avoid traffic and accidents. They have also apparently found some rates online (although the website says email for a quote) where this service would cost you about $100 extra. The normal ride is around $90 so you are looking at lesss than $200 to be the big man.
Here is a video of the escort which is humorously put to "Shake Ya Tailfeather" from Nelly with P. Diddy and Murphy Lee. Makes me feel like a VIP just listening to the Bad Boys 2 soundtrack.
