An American tourist is the latest to learn the hard way that it's always wise to plan your getaway with an experienced travel advisor.
Denver-based vlogger Lexi Jordan has gone viral after complaining about her recent trip to Italy's Amalfi Coast, blaming social media influencers for only showcasing the best aspects of a trip to the southern edge of the Sorrentine Peninsula.
Jordan went so far as to compare the experience to "literal manual labor."
"Every single influencer and TikToker who put the Amalfi Coast on my for-you page over the last two months deserves jail time," says Jordan. "It's impossible to get here."
"Then you have to stand in 90-degree weather waiting on a ferry—to get on a ferry with all of your luggage," she adds. "All the power went out because the Amalfi Coast doesn't have the infrastructure to support this tourism."
Unsurprisingly, the post got plenty of blowback, with some users calling out Jordan for not doing her research sans watching TikTok videos ahead of time.
The lesson of the viral post is to plan your travel with a professional advisor who can not only educate you one what to expect getting to and at your destination but save your precious time and money in the process.
In this case, a travel advisor would have been able to warn Jordan that travel to Europe is booming this summer and could have potentially suggested an alternative getaway if not simply prepared her for what to expect.
