Travelers can score some incredible deals to close out summer by taking advantage of shoulder season, the period between the peak and off-peak seasons.
On Wednesday, travAlliancemedia president and CEO, Mark Murphy appeared on ABC7 Chicago's Windy City Live to share a handful of can't-miss deals along with several exciting destination ideas.
"Right now, everyone's sad that summer's over. Don't be sad, the best deals to be had are now through the fall until Thanksgiving," says Murphy. "You can snare a fantastic deal as long as you don't have to worry about your kids going to school."
Domestically, the travel expert recommends a beer-centric road trip to Grand Rapids, Michigan or a perfectly-timed getaway to Denver and nearby Boulder, Colorado.
"Poland is an underrated, hot destination," Murphy added. "Go to Krakow. The plaza there is spectacular and so is the architecture. And then you can get out and explore things that are shocking like Auschwitz, just take a leisurely walk or go into a salt mine where you're hundreds of feet below the earth."
Should travelers be interested in a cruise, Murphy suggests booking an Alaskan voyage with Holland America Line for under $1,000 per person.
