Each year, hotels and resorts find numerous ways to give back to the communities in which they operate.
At Breezes Resort & Spa Bahamas, that effort has grown to include a long list of noteworthy charitable efforts such as supporting local schools, youth sporting teams, centers for AIDS patients and cancer society activities.
To capture all of the news surrounding its various initiatives, the Bahamas resort is using the social media hashtag #BreezesCares.
In addition, Breezes invites its most loyal, repeat guests to get involved with their many initiatives. If you're looking for a way to give back during a visit to the Bahamas, here are some of the ways Breezes can help make that a reality:
Centreville Primary School Project
For the past few years, Breezes Bahamas has been inviting guests to bring much-needed supplies-such as crayons, coloring books and children's clothing-that can be donated to children at Centreville Primary School. During their stay, guests can join Breezes on a visit to the school in order to deliver donations.
Additional projects at the school that have been supported by Breezes include garden beautification on Earth Day; installing lunch benches; hosting a Thanksgiving luncheon and donating items for a Christmas party luncheon.
Youth Sporting Teams Project
Breezes Bahamas also sponsors community youth sports teams, many of which are made up of children from less fortunate parts of Nassau. To help support these teams, Breezes invites visitors during the resort's popular Repeat Guest week in September to donate soccer and basketball gear, including items such as jerseys and apparel.
Aids Children Center
For several years, the resort hosted Christmas lunch for children from the local Aids Center. In preparation for the annual event, resort staff collected money and purchased a Christmas gift for each of the 20 to 30 children who would attend.
Dean Granger Meal Program
Dean William Granger was a prominent Anglican Priest in the local community. The Dean Granger Memorial Center was named in his honor. Each week Breezes delivers food to the center to feed the less fortunate.
This year Breezes Bahamas also helped support the Cancer Society Activities night, which took place in October and also the Bahamas Chess Federation.
