Caesars Entertainment Corporation has embarked an effort to reduce its emissions by 95 percent by 2050.
The news about its effort was part of announcement surrounding Caesars being recognized as one of the most community-minded companies for the fourth year in a row. The recognition comes from Civic 50, a Points of Light Initiative, which is a survey and ranking system measuring corporate involvement in communities.
"Caesars Entertainment has been and will continue to be, dedicated to making a long-lasting, positive societal impact on the communities in which we serve," Jan Jones Blackhurst, executive vice president of Public Policy and Corporate Responsibility, said in a statement.
The carbon emissions goal is part of a larger program from Caesars known as PEOPLE PLANET PLAY, a strategic alignment of the company's various corporate citizenship initiatives. Those initiatives have included:
-Caesars' goal of achieving gender equity in leadership roles by 2025. This equity goal also involves Caesars' commitment to including 50 percent minorities or women in manager level roles by 2030.
-Caesars is one of over 400 global organizations that has committed to business leadership and policy alignment on climate through the Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi). The company is also one of just over 100 companies to have their targets approved.
As part of these efforts Caesars Entertainment Corporation has committed to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions 30 percent by 2025, and 95 percent by 2050.
In addition, the company is seeking to have 60 percent of its suppliers institute science-based GHG reduction targets for their operations by 2023.
Additional initiatives from the company include Caesars Foundation donating its 61st meal delivery vehicle to Meals on Wheels America (MOWA). From 2003 through 2017, Caesars has donated $3.3 million to MOWA, which has garnered more than four million meals for seniors around the country.
Caesars Entertainment Corporation was also recognized by Civic 50 for the third time as the leader in the consumer discretionary industry.
"Our impact is only made possible by the dedication and care of each and every one of our employee volunteers and the leadership of our foundation. As they support others, we will continue to support them," Jones Blackhurst said.
The Civic 50 program is designed to provide a national standard for superior corporate citizenship and to showcase how companies can use their time, skills and other resources to improve the communities in which they do business.
