The Palmyra Resort and Spa in Montego Bay, Jamaica is undergoing a change.
The property is being rebranded as the Jewel Grande, from Jewel Resorts, and is expected to open later this year.
The property, which was acquired by Sagicor Managed Funds in 2016, is currently undergoing a massive renovation. It's expected that the unfinished buildings, which are set on 16 acres of pristine waterfront on the Rose Hall Estate, will be ready in time for the winter season.
The original property was designed by Miami-based architect Joe Andrioloa and comprises 88 junior suites, along with one-, two- and three-bedroom units and private villas. The facility will operate under the Jewel Resorts brand and will be managed by Aimbridge Hospitality Management Co., as are the other properties in the Jewel portfolio.
Sagicor completed the purchase of 217 of Palmyra's 277 residential units in October of 2016 in a deal that also included the purchase of an adjoining power plant owned by Caribbean Green Power Systems Ltd. With the purchase, the company became the third largest hotel owner in Jamaica.
The rebranding of the Palmyra as a Jewel property will make it the fourth Jewel resort on the island. Other properties in the portfolio are two adults-only resorts-the Jewel Paradise Cove Beach Resort & Spa and Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort & Spa-and the all-ages Jewel Runaway Bay Beach & Golf Resort.
The Paradise Cove is a popular resort among health-conscious travelers thanks to its focus on fitness and relaxation. If offers a host of water and land-based sports, including volleyball, snorkeling, kayaking and Hobie Cat rides. The resort also offers such fitness-related activities as a fit trail and paracourse, as well as yoga retreats and the luxurious Radiant Spa. Guests can also enjoy a variety of excursions, including those to Konoko Falls and a party trip to Margaritaville.

Adults will have fun perfecting their golf swing at the private 18-hole championship golf course, while kids take advantage of a little downtime at the kids and teen camps.
Romance is the name of the game for guests of the adults-only Jewel Dunn's River. Located on 25 acres of tropical gardens, this beachfront resort invites guests to relax and unwind. Enjoy a special beauty treatment at the Radiant Spa or plan the wedding of your dreams-the Jewel Dunn's River offers the best in tropical rejuvenation.
