A head-scratching incident was to blame for delays at Indianapolis International Airport on Thursday.
According to WTHR in Indianapolis, a Federal Air Marshal managed to misplace their weapon at the airport, prompting Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials to launch a search effort.
"TSA is aware that a Federal Air Marshal misplaced a weapon at the Indianapolis International Airport and is working with local authorities to recover it," the TSA said in a statement.
"While we cannot comment publicly on internal matters currently under investigation, public safety and accountability is an important aspect of our work, and TSA has conducted screening at departure gates in the terminal."
Passengers at the airport told WTHR that flights were being delayed Thursday afternoon.
Airport officials confirmed the delays to the news outlet but said normal operations had resumed by late afternoon Thursday.
It's unclear if the weapon was ever recovered.
