A storm system bringing heavy rain, severe thunderstorms and localized flash flooding to the Northeast Friday could impact flights to and from the region.
According to Weather.com, thunderstorms are expected as far south as Florida and will stretch from South Carolina into southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey, with damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes possible.
Meteorologists are forecasting as much as two inches of rain is possible throughout the Northeast and flooding could be a concern in parts of New England. Flood watches have also been issued by the National Weather Service for New Hampshire and Maine.

As a result of the storms, Delta Air Lines has started issuing travel advisories for customers traveling to, from or through the New York City metro area Friday. The carrier is waiving change fees for impacted travelers.
According to FlightAware.com, over 150 flights within, into or out of the United States were canceled Friday and another 250-plus have been delayed. Gusty winds, rain and decreased visibility may lead to a number of potential delays and ground stops at five New York airports.
