A Turkish Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing after the captain reported a passenger told crew members she was in possession of a bomb.
According to The Associated Press, an Air Algeria official speaking on the condition of anonymity said the pilot of the Turkish Airlines flight to Casablanca, Morocco, aborted the journey Tuesday afternoon after he was informed that a passenger had issued a bomb threat.
The plane changed course and landed safely at Houari Boumediene Airport in Algiers, Algeria.

Once safely on the ground in Algeria, local police and explosives experts boarded the plane and carried out a systematic search. Thankfully, there was no evidence discovered of any kind of explosive devices.
Algerian security services took the woman into custody and were questioning her. The airline official added that the woman is not Algerian and that the plane did not immediately resume its originally scheduled flight.
