A new royal engagement can only mean one thing: a royal wedding.

This time around, royal watchers on this side of the pond have something even more exciting to cheer about: the bride-to-be is an American.

For those wanting to get in on the excitement before, during or after the May nuptials between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, there are plenty of opportunities to fully immerse themselves in all things royal.

Trafalgar, however, is helping out with a few regal suggestions.

It is recommended that, for those looking for the full royal treatment, travelers book the eight-day London Explorer.

The guided vacation includes London, Windsor and Oxford, as well as visits to Buckingham Palace, home to the Queen of England and Westminster Abbey, where Prince William and Kate were married in 2011. It also includes Kensington Palace, the former home of Princess Diana and the home where the new royal couple will reside after the wedding.

Couples looking to combine a celebration of the royal engagement with romance of their own can book the Delights of London and Paris vacation.

The journey includes the same sights as the London vacation but adds a stop in Paris to experience the Eiffel Tower, the Tuleries gardens and more.

In celebration of the engagement, Trafalgar is offering savings on summer 2018 departures for bookings made through December 11. Travelers can take advantage of an early payment discount of 10 percent as well as a complimentary royal afternoon tea for two at The Milestone across from Kensington Palace.

Tourism Boom

Royal weddings have always been good for tourism. According to Visit London, following Will and Kate's engagement and wedding in 2011, the destination saw a spike in tourists-800,000 more than the previous year-and the highest number of visits by Americans since 2008.

This is good news even as Britain has seen a string of positive tourism numbers lately. Bolstered by a weakened pound and low-cost airfares, U.S. travelers continue to travel to the U.K. in droves.

"Tourism is an economic force that creates jobs and drives growth up and down the country," tourism minister John Glen said in regards to record tourism numbers in August of this year. "These record-breaking figures for August reaffirm the U.K.'s position as a global go-to destination and show the continued strength of the sector."

In addition to a number of tourism campaigns through the coming year, news of a royal engagement can only further these efforts-and likely break more records.
