In support of its queer communities, Intrepid Travel is
going louder and prouder than ever, unveiling a new LGBTQIA+ Travel Guide and
launching free Queer History Walking Tours in major U.S. cities.
Travel as Your Full Self Guide
The release of this digital LGBTQIA+ travel guide is designed
to inspire, inform and support queer travelers across the globe. The guide
features real stories from LGBTQIA+ travelers, including Sasha, Intrepid’s
first transgender leader, queer destination spotlights and Pride-aligned travel
inspiration, tips on navigating customs, safety and laws while traveling and
curated LGBTQIA+ book recommendations.
Leigh Barnes, President of the Americas at Intrepid Travel said,
“Travel is a powerful thing – it opens minds, connects cultures and builds
empathy. But for LGBTQIA+ travelers, it can still come with a layer of risk,
caution or code-switching. That’s why we’re not going quietly in June. While
some brands are shrinking away, we’re showing up. Loud. Proud. And global.”
Free LGBTQIA+ City Tours
Intrepid Urban Adventures launched free LGBTQIA+ walking
tours in Seattle and Washington, D.C. offering travelers a deeper, more
personal look at two cities through the lens of LGBTQIA+
history, activism and creativity. In collaboration with local legends,
artists and activists, the small group day tours are complimentary in June and
will become a permanent offering in the near future.
“Creating these tours was deeply personal for all of us,”
said Amanda Neiman, Operations Director for Urban Adventure, leading U.S. tour
development. She added, “We worked with incredible local voices to build
something that feels honest and meaningful. Offering them for free during Pride
is our way of making sure more people can experience these stories, because
they matter and they deserve to be heard.”
Brand Sponsorships
Throughout the month of June, Intrepid is also a main
sponsor of Seattle Pride and Toronto Pride’s parades and hosting events, along
with partnering with the Seattle Storm for Pride Night at their home game on
Friday, June 28.
Broader Commitment to Representation in Travel
Intrepid’s support of the LGBTQIA+ community is part of a
larger commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in travel. From mandating
diverse creator partnerships to investing in representation across content,
marketing and hiring, Intrepid is working to build a travel industry where
everyone can see themselves.
