A documentary 10 years in the making, premiered on PBS over the weekend with Tauck supporting the broadcast with a promotional spot.
"The Vietnam War," a new 10-part, 18-hour series was co-directed by longtime Tauck partner Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. It is one of three television projects that Tauck recently participated in.
The first installment of "The Vietnam War" documentary premiered on September 17. Tauck has a 15-second promotional spot that aired in all 15 markets, reaching an anticipated audience of more than 35 million viewers.
In March, Tauck announced that it had extended its partnership with Burns for another five years. The tour operator also expanded its Ken Burns journeys to include itineraries in Vietnam. The 16-day Indochina: Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos and Vietnam, Cambodia & Thailand will both feature short vignettes from Burns.
Tauck and Burns have created "Stories by Ken Burns" filmed vignettes that will begin in 2018. The short, 10- to 15-minute pieces will be shown during the Vietnam portion of each journey and feature insights and perspectives provided by Burns, Novick and producer Sarah Botstein on topics such as the shared humanity of American and Vietnamese combatants and families, how media coverage shaped the course of the conflict and powerful mythologies surrounding the war.
