Australian-born Today Show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie traveled Down Under to broadcast live this evening from the Sydney Opera House. Savannah visited the country with her mother, marking the pair's first trip to Australia since they departed for the United States when Savannah was just two years old, so Destination NSW and Qantas Airways pulled out all the stops for a warm welcome home!
"Savannah experienced some of the very best our city has to offer," said Destination NSW chief executive officer Sandra Chipchase. "Some of the activities Savannah and the Today crew featured include sailing on Sydney Harbour, BridgeClimb, visiting the iconic Sydney Opera House, witnessing our lifesavers and nippers in action on the sands of Bondi Beach and shopping along the style-miles of inner city precincts Paddington and Surry Hills.
"We also coordinated a special preview of Vivid Sydney, our 18 day festival of music, light and ideas which warms up the city with a celebration from May 22 to June 8; plus a meet-and-greet with furry friends from Featherdale Wildlife Park. There was also a fireworks display to give Savannah insight into Sydney's world-famous New Year's Eve celebrations," said Chipchase.
