5 Ways Sandos Caracol Is Helping Save the Ocean

The time to act is now.
Over 250 thousand tons of plastic floats in the sea today, harming the marine life and then potentially entering our bodies when we eat grilled fish.
Sandos Caracol is doing its part to ensure less plastic reaches the water.
Here are five ways this eco-lifestyle resort is taking action to help the ocean:
No Plastic Bottles
Instead of plastic bottles in the guest rooms, Sandos Caracol places a water dispenser with fresh water to drink.
No Disposable Packaging
Sandos Caracol is making a difference as a sustainable hotel, removing disposable packaging and using biodegradable versions when necessary.
No Plastic Bags
A plastic bag takes up 55 years to decompose, meaning every plastic bag ever made still exists. This is why biodegradable bags are used to collect trash from rooms at Sandos Caracol.

No Straws
More and more resorts are banning straws from their property. If you really want one, Sandos Caracol has some but upon asking they’ll also invite you to become a sustainable traveler and opt out of the straw. Help save the environment and reduce your straw usage at beach resorts.
Clean Beach
Every month, Sandos Caracol helps organize a volunteer clean up for the beach. A crew bands together and picks up garbage either left behind by people or trash that the sea might bring in.
Do your part to help keep the beaches and the ocean clean from plastic and garbage.
