The expedition cruise sector is booming as cruise lines seek to meet travelers' increasing demand for experiences and adventure.
Seabourn is getting in on the growth with the addition of two new 264-passenger expedition ships scheduled to debut in 2021 and 2022.
The vessels will sail to Antarctica, the Arctic and other hard-to-reach destinations around the world thanks to an ice-strengthened hull. However, guests won't have to sacrifice luxury for experiences as the ships will feature balcony suites, high-end dining and other luxury touches.
Other highlights will include a pair of onboard submarines, kayaks and Zodiac inflatable boats allowing passengers to explore new places beyond the ship deck.
The ships' crew members will include expedition teams comprised of wilderness experts, scientists, historians and Zodiac operators to enhance the guest experience at every turn. Seabourn's experts will also participate in the Seabourn Conversations program, which will provide insights into the history, ecology, and culture of each destination the ships visit.
Seabourn has already been sailing to Antarctica since 2013 and offers a Ventures by Seabourn program featuring guided excursions in coveted destinations all over the world.
What's more, the Carnival Corporation & plc brand has partnered with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to assist in protecting World Heritage sites across the globe.
