Dear Tammy: What's the best way to ask a client for a testimonial? I don't want them to feel like I'm intruding, but I think it will help me get more business. Any tips?
Tammy: What a great question! I really don't think your clients will see it as an intrusion when you ask for a testimonial for your website. Instead, I think most clients will be happy to provide you with a short paragraph or two about their recent experience using you to book their travels.
Just be sure to make it an easy process for them so they don't have to do anything except provide you with their experience information.
You can send them an email with a few sentences letting them know that you really enjoyed providing them with the travel services they needed, and when they have a few moments to spare, if they could write a paragraph or two to let others know what a great time they had on their trip.
You can also start letting your clients know when they're booking their next trip that you would love to get a testimonial from them upon their return. This can allow you to get very detailed testimonials if that's what you want.
Testimonials are definitely one of the best things you can do for your travel website. They give you credibility, which allows new potential clients to put their trust in you. A customer testimonial is unquestionably increasing in its importance nowadays, mainly due to all of the social media platforms.
It's already been proven that websites with customer testimonials are much more likely to convert new website visitors into new clients, so there's only an upside.
When people are looking online for travel-related information, they want to be sure they're getting their information from legitimate websites. They understand that there are thousands of travel-related websites available online nowadays, and they want to be sure they're choosing a website they can trust. When they see a website with real travel testimonials from real travelers, this gives them the confidence they need to give that agent a try.
There are even some third-party testimonial websites you can connect with-like Trust Pilot and Google reviews-which adds even more legitimacy.
Note: While there are some people who will take the easy way by writing fake testimonials, please don't do this. If anyone were to find out that they weren't real testimonials, it's going to put your website in a bad light.
