G Adventures details eight different hiking treks around the globe that are worth exploring.

1. Peru's Inca Trail - 43km, 4 days

The journey to see Machu Picchu is arguably the best in the world. The sensational views of the various ancient ruins along the way, leading to an overview shot of the forgetting city is worth every difficult step. The best time to go is May to September. Learn more here.

2. Colombia's Lost City - 44km, 5 days

Colombia's Ciudad Perdida at Teyuna was built by the Tairona civilization over 600 years before Machu Picchu. Take in the sights of the remarkable jungle scenery as you trek to the Lost City of Teyuna. The best time to go is December to March. Learn more here.

3. Nepal's Everest Base Camp - 62km, 13 days

A much longer hike than most on this list, one could argue it's the most challenging as well. Any part of Everest is no easy trek. The best time to go is August to November. Learn more here.

4. Tanzania's Mt Kilimanjaro - 34km, 8 days

The highest peak in Africa, Mt Kilimanjaro has multiple routes to the top, all with such exceptional beauty of nature all around you on your journey. The best time to go is September to March. Learn more here.

5. Europe's Mont Blanc - 125km, 8 days

Pass through three countries, Switzerland, Italy, and France, on the Tour du Mont Blanc. The best time to go is June to September. Learn more here.

6. Patagonia's Torres del Paine Circuit - 133km, 10 days

Per the G Adventures' blogger, "you'd be hard-pressed to identify a part of the world that can top Patagonia for natural splendor." The best time to go is December to March. Learn more here.

7. Trekking Venezuela's Mt Roirama - 34km, 6 days

Rumor has it that this mountain is said to have inspired "The Lost World" by Arthur Conan Doyle. The best time to go is from November to April, but this mountain can be hiked year-round. Learn more here.

8. The Camino de Santiago, Spain - 750km, 30 days

The longest hike listed here, the Camino de Santiago is also known as the St. James Trail. Per the G Adventures' blogger, it "was an important Christian pilgrimage during the Middle Ages, and remains a significant religious retreat to this day. More than 200,000 pilgrims walk the Camino every year." The best time to go is between the spring and fall, but this trail can be hiked year-round. Learn more here.
