As many of you know, Barry Karp and I, the founders of ShoreTrips, meet with all of our tour operators. If we - as former travel agents - are satisfied with a shore excursion, we are certain you will be pleased, too. (We can be tough customers.)
We just finished spending time in the Caribbean, doing our due diligence in finding some new options on some of the most frequented islands. We then moved on to Playa del Carmen in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. Our purpose was to spend one day on Cozumel checking out any changes, both positive and negative. Our partners on the island knew that we were coming but we hated to pin down a time so we could leave our day open.
Midday, hot, tired and starving, we arrived at our favorite beach club and wandered for a few minutes, realizing we had made a mistake in not setting a specific time. However our scouts were there, watching all of the entry points and in seconds, we were hugging our favorite Cozumelean.
Led immediately to a cool lovely tower overlooking the park, we found a spread suitable for royalty and we were made to feel as if we were. There were lobsters, shrimp, chicken, succulent salads - and anything imaginable to drink - all laid before us.
I think there were several purposes to this lunch. It certainly made us feel very special. I also think that our hosts were as excited to partake in this banquet as we were. And clearly the goal was to stop us in our tracks from any further research! It worked. We savored our lunch. We enjoyed our conversation. We explored the new changes and we relaxed and forgot we were working.
How lucky we are to be in such a business as this one! And how confident we are that you will feel wined and dined in Cozumel as well!
