Dear Tammy: I'm super busy keeping up with all of the many responsibilities that come with being a new travel agent. But I really want to start blogging, too. How important is having my own travel blog? Does it take a lot of time to manage? Is it worth it?
Tammy: Great question! And good for you for understanding that there are indeed many responsibilities that come with being a successful travel agent. There are many people who think that being a travel agent is easy. It is not! But we do it because we love it. The more you educate yourself on the travel industry niche, the better off you're going to be. (This is why I created TASK.)
Having your own travel blog is really important as blogging is one of the business requirements necessary for your success. And for 2 reasons. The first is because blogging is one of the best ways you can have a direct line of communication with your clients (and anyone else in the entire world looking for travel information!).
And you can blog about anything you feel is important, so the sky's the limit. For example, let your clients know about any trends going on -solo travel has been trending lately-and be sure to give them plenty of options to take advantage of the trend, too. You can also start blogging and sharing your own travel-related content. Sharing your personal travel adventures can let people know what a particular area is like. And since you were there you can give them the inside scoop, which they'll appreciate.
The second reason why blogging is so important is because this is one of the absolute best ways for you to build your client base up. Be sure you're addressing your audience. Write for them. Speak to them. Know what they want and give it to them.
Bottom line-adding informative content on a regular basis to your website is a crucial part of your success!
Regarding time, depending on the topic it can take anywhere from an hour and a half to three hours to write one blog. Then there's the need to post it to your website, as well as any other of your Social Media platforms, which can take another hour or two.
Even though, blogging is worth the time! The more you blog, the better your website ratings. All it takes is one or two blogs a week of really great information and you'll start to see your website rise to the top of the search engines, one of your many blogging goals.
If you have any specific questions about blogging, or are in need of blogs, know that we can help. Just send us your blog topics, and we'll provide a royalty photo and share the blog via top Social Media platforms. Send me an email for more info.
So ready to start blogging? Now is the time for you to do what you can to make your travel business stand out from the rest, and blogging is definitely one of the most important!
