Planes, trains, and automobiles…
Two of these are used and discussed far more frequently than the other.
Airplanes are a marvelous wonder, flying us around the world. Cars have become a daily necessity for many.
But too often the trains are overlooked. They’re not as frequently used in the United States and implementing high-speed rail wasn’t a big focal point years ago like it should have been if you ask me.
Still, trains are a fantastic mode of transportation for the world travelers out there. Trains in Europe and Asia get a great deal of hype, and rightfully so.
But two new train routes are coming that need to be on travelers’ radar.
First, the Maya Train in Mexico will connect five states in Mexico: Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, Quintana Roo. Travelers will be able to move about Mexico’s popular beach destinations in Cancun and Riviera Maya to venture out and see some lesser-known regions in Mexico.
Mexican officials provided a recent update saying it’s still set to debut in December.
And just recently announced, the Dominican Republic will build a train connecting the capital city Santo Domingo to the beach resorts in Punta Cana. It will be a privately funded project and is estimated to cost $3 billion.
New trains in popular Caribbean destinations is a huge win for the train fanatics out there, and I sincerely believe these will be major tourist hits for Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
