Delta Air Lines has just revealed some details on the upcoming release of its new, first-of-its-kind digital platform, Delta Sync, which aims to perfectly personalize customers’ travel journeys, both in-flight and on the ground.
The imminent arrival of this new onboard offering was first announced at CES 2023. Now, the airline has announced the concurrent launch of 'Delta Sync Exclusives', which will serve as what it has called the "curated front page' of the customer's onboard experience.
In late April, Delta initiated a test run of the mobile platform in late April, installing Delta Sync on select planes flying domestically within the U.S. Following completion of the pilot program, the airline plans on upgrading over 540 of its aircraft with Delta Sync Exclusives content, supported by fast, free Wi-Fi, by the end of July. The carrier will go on to install the platform on over 700 its domestic mainline aircraft by the end of the year, and hopes to have done the same for its entire global fleet by the close of 2024.
Upon connecting with the onboard Wi-Fi service, passengers will land on the ‘My Exclusives’ screen, where they’ll discover a curated collection of thumbnails linking to experiences, entertainment and exclusive offers from well-known brands.
They can also use the browser-based platform to navigate to the ‘My Trip’ tab to view inspirational content detailing what they have to look forward to upon arriving in their destination, as well as some need-to-know information about their journey. In doing so, Delta will help uniquely link together the digital and physical elements of their trips to enhance the travel experience.
“Delta Sync Exclusives is an entirely new platform for entertainment and discovery designed to elevate the experience for every customer,” Ranjan Goswami, SVP – Customer Experience Design, said in a statement. “Customers deserve a journey that feels seamlessly fit for them, and that means delivering meaningful, personalized and relevant touch points in compelling new ways.” He added, “Our recent launch of free Wi-Fi with T-Mobile unlocks what is possible—it gives us a new set of tools and opportunities to elevate the customer experience onboard.”
Upon initial rollout of Delta Sync Exclusives, guests will be able to:
- Enjoy a free trial of the Paramount+ streaming media service and its complete content collection, which includes original TV series, popular movies, news and live sports, available on your mobile device.
- Engross themselves in playing their favorite New York Times Games, such as challenging word, number and logic puzzles, including Wordle, Sudoku, Mini Crossword and others.
- Explore special deals on offer exclusively to Delta customers from big-name companies, like T-Mobile and American Express, as well as future Delta experience premium-brand partners.
Delta SkyMiles loyalty members can also conveniently browse existing SkyMiles loyalty offers via the Delta Sync Exclusives portal. With the aid of an interactive dashboard, the new platform can link the user’s SkyMiles account to access current offers available from partner businesses, ranging from Starbucks to Lyft.
Through the ‘My Trip’ tab on Delta Sync Exclusives’, travelers will also find quick access to their individual itinerary, as well as ways to make plans for after they land. This includes the ability to:
- Reserve a table at a local restaurant with Resy, perhaps after perusing curated dining guides for their destination (on select routes).
- Get pumped for their trip with inspiring editorial and video content provided by online publisher and travel company Atlas Obscura.
- Access familiar self-service tools, resources and insights from Delta to support your experience in real-time.
You’ll need to be a Delta SkyMiles member in order to access the fast, free, in-flight Wi-Fi and the Delta Sync Exclusives digital experience for mobile devices. If aren’t one already, you can sign up for free before your trip or even right onboard the aircraft in order to connect.
