Travelers flying between Tokyo, Japan and San Francisco, California will soon have a new budget-friendly option.
ZIPAIR has just confirmed what was a much-anticipated decision to launch flights between Tokyo Narita and San Francisco International Airport. The new service is set to kick-off on June 2, according to a statement issued by the airline.
The best part about the news? The new flights will be a bargain, starting at just $91 one-way.
“We are pleased to announce the introduction of the San Francisco-Tokyo Narita route,” said ZIPAIR President Shingo Nishida. “Through our relationship with SFO, we are confident this service will provide a valuable link for commercial and cultural exchange for our mutual customers.”
The airline plans to offer five flights weekly on the new route to start—running Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The bargain airfare offered on the route also includes one checked bag per traveler, which is no small savings these days.

The service to San Francisco will be the carrier’s third route across the Pacific. It already flies to Los Angeles and also San Jose Meneta International Airport, using a Boeing 787-8 aircraft on its international routes.
ZIPAIR was established in 2018 and is owned by Japan Airlines. While it is a bargain carrier, the airline offers travelers complimentary Wi-Fi on all classes of travel. Additional features include a self-ordering system that allows fliers to purchase meals and goods throughout flights using their smartphone or tablet.
Based in Tokyo Narita, ZIPAIR flies to six international destinations: Bangkok, Thailand; Seoul, South Korea; Honolulu, Hawaii; Singapore; Los Angeles, California, and San Jose, California.
Japan reopened to visa-free travel from dozens of countries around
the world as of October, eliminating its daily entry cap on
tourist arrivals and making it easier for visitors to plan their own
getaway to the country without a qualified booking through an approved
travel agency or tour operator.
